  1. Sadly I am posting that PenguiNet should not be used anymore as it is insecure and forces you to use insecure practices to make it work.

You cannot securely use SSH as PenguiNet! doesn't support modern security ciphers only deprecated insecure ciphers, sadly after 15 + years of using this great tool it is obsolete and the developers are no longer maintaining this application.

Try putty or anything else that is in active development as it will be updated for the real world.

And if the silicon circus fool says its fixed he is lying don't spend a dime on…

  2. I'm using Virtualbox to host a local Ubuntu 18.04 server for development. I also use PHPStorm.

I'm unable to SSH using PenguiNet. However, SSH from Phpstorm works fine.
    The credentials are simple:
    192.168.10.10
    port 2222
    user: vagrant
    pass: vagrant

Each time it says it's closing the connection, then gives me a dialog that says "Error 261"

I've tried Putty and it connects easily with the above.
What can be wrong with PenguiNet?

  6. It would be great if all the windows and connections had the same border, inherited from the OS, regardless of whether they're attached or not.

  7. When I paste multiple lines of text, they appear as one line without any CR/LF. I have tried with copying directly from Word and from multiple text file apps. I have also tried using xterm, vt100, and Linux all with and without UTF-8. I can see how to add CR/LF when copying text, but can't see anything that affects the past option.

    Any advise?

  9. We use multiple instances of the same connection profile so the toolbar will just display the profile name we defined on the connection profiles. Is there any way to edit the name that displays on the toolbar to better keep track of the sessions?

  13. I have a high resolution screen. When I set "Hacker" font to size 14 on the main bar it adjusts the font to an acceptable size. Then I close it and have to reset the font size every time I open the program. How do I set this permanently?

    Thanks,
    Shawn

  15. Version: 2.70
    Host: Linux
    Connection: Serial

When I press 'Enter' in the terminal, it's reflected twice on the Linux console (or uBoot console). I guess the host expects LF but gets CRLF instead.

  16. I am having problems connecting to devices I had no problem connecting to before I had to reload a newer version of PenguiNet. I am able to connect to these devices when I use Putty but not this version of PenguiNet. These are wireless access points that are connected to a wireless controller. Before I was able to connect to the controller as well as the APs. Now when I try to connect I get an error 261 occurred. Any idea why this is happening? I need to connect to these devices.

  17. Is there a way to extract a password? We have a system that we can login to, but it wants the current password. Unfortunately we don't have it, but it's stored in penguinet. Save me the trouble of password recovery on an ISE server...

  20. Hi.

We have a team of engineers that wish to use a shared set of profiles. I cannot see any way to share the profiles.pnt between users. Please can you make this happen?
