  1. Hi.

I would like to propose a new feature - Custom Notes for each profile.

This is very useful of storing passwords etc.

Coz I always forgot what is the password if someone else asked me since I already set the Penguinet to save password automatically.

    Thank you.

  2. Hi. Actually this problem have been recurring for a quite long time ago. The problem is that whenever I paste text that contains more than 6 lines, the session will hang and I have to close it and open the session again.

This does not happen when I paste text in vi mode. It happened when I paste text directly onto the terminal prompt.

I have tested the same situation with SecureCRT and it has no such problem.

Hope you guys could kindly fix this.

    Thank you.

  3. Can you please add the feature (which is in SecureCRT and Putty) to add dynamic ssh port forwarding. This would be very useful for me and my operations team.

  4. I'm using putty to open a tunnel via SSH to a host and then configuring Firefox using this as a SOCKS proxy.
Can I apply the putty config to PenguiNet? I was unable to do this.

I'm using this config in putty http://d.pr/i/inms and then connect in Firefox using SOCKS on 127.0.0.1:9999

  5. With Putty I use Pageant to host my rsa keys so that I can read and write to my subversion server. I love PenguiNet and would like to purchase it for our IT staff, but it doesn't provide anything similar to putty's Pageant and PLink.

Is there any plans to add this functionality to the product in the future?

We do already have the Pageant functionality – it’s built right in to PenguiNet. In the Connection Profiles window, on the SSH tab, click the “Port fowarding” button and make sure that under “Additionally forward…”, the option “Authentication agent connections from the remote computer” is checked.

v2.60 will include an equivalent of PLink.

  6. on Windows, the session window gets resized when I change the text zoom.
This is not an expected behavior, It shouldn't be resized.

  7. When open sessionwith PenguiNet, the path is automatically entered as a command (whenever hit enter); this does not occur with standalone putty session. Is there a PenguiNet option to prevent this? WIthout a way to turn this off, PenguiNet is too annoying to use.

  9. I work in the NOC that we have to ssh into routers and in the routers we have to ping these routers to get avg responds time..

    Example:
    ssh 192.168.1.1
    192.168.1.1#ping 192.168.2.3
Sending 5, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 192.168.2.3, timeout is 2 seconds:
    !!!!!
    Success rate is 100 percent (5/5), round-trip min/avg/max = 124/126/128 ms..
We have to do 10 different pings for each router i ssh into.. is there any way your program will support this.. Please Help.

  10. When using midnight commander’s ctrl-o feature to toggle shell/mc the screen content is gone.
It would be really great if the screen content would be preserved like in putty.

  11. I'd like PenguiNet alert before closing an SSH session with tunneling, because quite often I forget having the tunnel up and I close an "inoperative" ssh window, thus inadvertently closing the tunnel.
A generic SSH window without active tunneling would then have no alert if closing it.

An interesting alternative would be to have PenguiNet to open tunnels without opening ssh window.

  12. The find text function would be much more helpful if it highlighted all instances of the text found and centered the current location in the screen. Regular expressions would be of great help also.

  13. I use empty an pass-phrase for my ssh key on my home network (for convenience, didn't see the need for the extra level of security here).
Would be nice if you could add support for that.

  14. I've been using Penguinet for what might be 10 years now. I love it. It's great. And whenever I use Putty I hate it.

    BUT

When I log in to a server with public/private key pair, I have to do the following dance:

First, I enter my password for the key and get:

"You've chosen public key login but the server has been unable to authenticate you, would you like to attempt automatic authentication?"

I say NO. I then get:

"The connection to [server] has been closed because the remote host closed the connection normally"

    I say RECONNECT. Penguinet then…

  17. i using secure crt for years. but now i've changed my employer which doesn't have secure crt. now i'm searching for a lower priced alternative.

    what i missed...

    • a bar with user defined buttons (with commands, scripts oder something like this)

this my absolute favorite feature in secure crt. i love it! with this feature i've often used commands or scripts on a single button...1 click away (one command per button). very very nice for a fulltime unix admin!!

  18. I'd like to have the ability to open several connections at once in a consistent, recallable "workspace" layout.

EG: Open load monitoring connections on all our servers (profiles are already configured to run "top") and tile them the same way every time.

    I should be able to:
    - open connections and arrange them the way I want them to be forevermore
    - hit "Save Workspace" and give the workspace a name
    - recall the workspace from the profiles window (could be a separate root tree below the profiles)

  19. Dear PenguiNet team,

we used Version 2.54 on a terminal server with more then one user! In earlier versions we used one profile file. So everyone had the full list of our devices!

Now it seems that every user has his own database (profile) is it possible to use one together!?

  20. The 2.54 has the serial port working but it seems to be lacking the power that rest of the software has. Which is custom sized scroll back and custom width. Even after setting Sessions to 50000 it does not take effect inside Serial port window. Forcing width to # of columns creates a scroll bar rather than set width of the window.
