  1. It would be nice if penguinet can resize the taskbar/servertabs like in ms windows the taskbar. So it is possible to connected to more servers and keep the overview of all. I have generell the problem that I have to many tabs open. This would solve the problem

  3. When transfering data and working on the same server, scp will exhaust all of the bandwidth thus making it difficult to work. This would be solved by adding the option to throttle the scp connection

  4. Hi. Actually this problem have been recurring for a quite long time ago. The problem is that whenever I paste text that contains more than 6 lines, the session will hang and I have to close it and open the session again.

This does not happen when I paste text in vi mode. It happened when I paste text directly onto the terminal prompt.

I have tested the same situation with SecureCRT and it has no such problem.

Hope you guys could kindly fix this.

    Thank you.

  5. It would be sweet if you could clone a scp session from a window and it would then drop you into your current directory. I know there's no easy way to do this cause your current directory isnt available to penguinet. If you guys ever figured that out it would be cool too if you could clone a terminal session and have it drop you into that sessions current directory. Penguinet is awesome! keep up the good work

  6. Using penguinet to ssh to a nexus 3048 running version 6.0.2.

penguinet succesfully connects to the switch, up to the point of actually showing me the CLI, then reports "the host does not appear to be running an SSH service on the requested port" and force-closes the session again.
Changing the switch or its config is impossible (its in a corporate data centre)

ssh to the same switch works fine with Putty

seems like some bug in penguinet intereacting with the particular behaviour of ssh on this switch hardware/firmware ? using version 2.70 of penguinet.

You’re probably using SSH2 and need to select one of your SSH2 keys from the combo just below the one open in your screenshot. If you see no keys there either, try adding the key via Tools|Manage keypairs.

  8. I would love to be able to select tabs and then choose a window sort.

For instance. I usually have 10+ tabs open, but would love an easy way to side - by - side compare two or three of them. So, if I could select the ones I wish to see, then click "Tile Vertically" and easily have them side by side... That would be awesome.

I like the idea of this – reminds me of the Windows 7 advert here in the UK or IE’s “Quick Tabs”.

We have a number of user interface changes being debated. For example, a quick way to zoom in and out of terminal sessions would benefit you here I think.

    Any other feedback out there?

  9. I've been using Penguinet for what might be 10 years now. I love it. It's great. And whenever I use Putty I hate it.

    BUT

When I log in to a server with public/private key pair, I have to do the following dance:

First, I enter my password for the key and get:

"You've chosen public key login but the server has been unable to authenticate you, would you like to attempt automatic authentication?"

I say NO. I then get:

"The connection to [server] has been closed because the remote host closed the connection normally"

    I say RECONNECT. Penguinet then…

  10. I use empty an pass-phrase for my ssh key on my home network (for convenience, didn't see the need for the extra level of security here).
Would be nice if you could add support for that.

  11. The find text function would be much more helpful if it highlighted all instances of the text found and centered the current location in the screen. Regular expressions would be of great help also.

  12. When open sessionwith PenguiNet, the path is automatically entered as a command (whenever hit enter); this does not occur with standalone putty session. Is there a PenguiNet option to prevent this? WIthout a way to turn this off, PenguiNet is too annoying to use.

  13. on Windows, the session window gets resized when I change the text zoom.
This is not an expected behavior, It shouldn't be resized.

  17. I got a server application that prints log output in different colors depending on the type (error -> red, warning -> yellow, info -> white, debug -> grey, trace -> dark grey).

However PenguiNet displays the dark grey trace-messages transparent (same color as background). Changing the color scheme or selecting the text doesn't make it visible, but copying the text works fine.
    Putty displays the text correctly.

James, which version are you using? Newer versions come with an option in Send Commands, “Hide text to be sent”, meaning you could use Send Commands for this without exposing a password.

  19. i am doing an initial setup of penguinet, and have 200+ connections to put in a folder. i spoofed the xml to load the connections, but am finding that i have to select & drag each one separately to the folder rather than being able to select & drag the whole bunch at once. it would be great to be able to perform functions (drag, open, scp, edit shared parameters) on all selected connections at the same time.

  20. I have a Telnet window open for an HP 2610-24-PwR switch and I can't change the windows height to be more than 24 lines. Any ideas where I should look in the config. options or what I should do differently?
    Thanks for a great program.

Pleased try Profile, options, advanced, force size. Unfortunately hosts using Telnet may not negotiate window size. Let us know if this option works. If the host supports ssh then connect using ssh.

  • Don't see your idea?
