problem getting onto server using SCP session?
I have about 50 server I connect to. Many different Unix and Linux OS's. I can connect using SSH, never a problem. But about half of the server do not let me connect using SCP for file transfers. The message it says is: Permission to change to the selected directory was denied. The directory was not changed. I use the same password for all and have LDAP server. I checked my password, but nothing will let me get to these paticular servers?
I use WinSCP for these servers and connect with no problem? What's going on here?
If you click in the remote directory combo box, enter a slash (/) and press enter, does that change anything?

Is there a way to solve this for FreeBSD 9.0 without "falling back" to bash? (I am aware that this is a rather old entry). I get this error message: "Permission to change to the selected directory was denied. The directory was not changed." The user account is on /bin/tcsh.
Hi, I am also getting the error “You may not have permission to view a directory listing” randomly on some servers.
I narrowed the problem down to machines where the shell was C-shell or tcsh.
I did a test and changed my shell from /bin/csh to /bin/bash and then it worked.
Also, I have noticed that there are problems if you .bashrc echos characters. better to put that stuff in .bash_profile.
enter a slash(/) and press enter, error is:
"There was at least one error while fetching the directory listing. You may not have permission to view a directory listing.
I encounter this SCP problem while trying to access our ESXi VMWare servers via SSH. SCP to/from our RH and CentOS servers is not an issue.
Error is: "There was at least one error while fetching the directory listing. You may not have permission to view a directory listing."
This is via the root user and PNet v 2.44 however I've encountered it in recent versions, also.
use root, I can enter any directory and trans any file from host to remote, but i just cant get the remote directory(any directory) file list !
I use SCP connect to debian 5.0 + openssh server5.1pl and return there war at last one error while fetch the directory list, you may not have the permission to view ......
