  1. I am trying to insert a line within an existing screen. For example, position the cursor at line 12, col 0; insert a linefeed, moving row 12 and below down one line. Move the cursor back to line 12 and display new text. I have not been able to do this with Putty or Penguin. It works on a real Vt-100. Any ideas? Thanks

  2. I've been using Penguinet for what might be 10 years now. I love it. It's great. And whenever I use Putty I hate it.

    BUT

When I log in to a server with public/private key pair, I have to do the following dance:

First, I enter my password for the key and get:

"You've chosen public key login but the server has been unable to authenticate you, would you like to attempt automatic authentication?"

I say NO. I then get:

"The connection to [server] has been closed because the remote host closed the connection normally"

    I say RECONNECT. Penguinet then…

  3. I use empty an pass-phrase for my ssh key on my home network (for convenience, didn't see the need for the extra level of security here).
Would be nice if you could add support for that.

  4. The find text function would be much more helpful if it highlighted all instances of the text found and centered the current location in the screen. Regular expressions would be of great help also.

  5. When open sessionwith PenguiNet, the path is automatically entered as a command (whenever hit enter); this does not occur with standalone putty session. Is there a PenguiNet option to prevent this? WIthout a way to turn this off, PenguiNet is too annoying to use.

  6. on Windows, the session window gets resized when I change the text zoom.
This is not an expected behavior, It shouldn't be resized.

  7. I'm using putty to open a tunnel via SSH to a host and then configuring Firefox using this as a SOCKS proxy.
Can I apply the putty config to PenguiNet? I was unable to do this.

I'm using this config in putty http://d.pr/i/inms and then connect in Firefox using SOCKS on 127.0.0.1:9999

  9. I got a server application that prints log output in different colors depending on the type (error -> red, warning -> yellow, info -> white, debug -> grey, trace -> dark grey).

However PenguiNet displays the dark grey trace-messages transparent (same color as background). Changing the color scheme or selecting the text doesn't make it visible, but copying the text works fine.
    Putty displays the text correctly.

  10. I have a Telnet window open for an HP 2610-24-PwR switch and I can't change the windows height to be more than 24 lines. Any ideas where I should look in the config. options or what I should do differently?
    Thanks for a great program.

Pleased try Profile, options, advanced, force size. Unfortunately hosts using Telnet may not negotiate window size. Let us know if this option works. If the host supports ssh then connect using ssh.

  11. Hello,

Since upgrading from 2.54 to 2.61 and 2.62 I have been unable to connect using port forwarding from a jump host. I have had to use putty for either the connection to the jump then use penguinet for the terminal to the remote server, or reverse penguinet for the connection to jump then putty for terminal to remote server. Or I use putty for both.

I have rolled back to 2.54 and everything is working fine again.

I cannot find anyway to get to the connection, logs if there are any,to see what part of the connection is failing…

Penguinet supports UTF-8 within a terminal session, and if its required, a font of your choice.

We don’t actually have a server here configured for hebrew, so why not install the Penguinet trial, try it on an appropriate server, and report back here? :-)

  13. Two factor authentication, is it possible with Penguinet. I am using google authenticator on my server and it works fine with Putty. I have mine set to as for
    1) username
    2) password
    3) 2FA code

  14. Midnight Commander seems to work fine in Putty but does not look nearly as good nor does it allow you to click on the folders to open them as Putty does.

Let me know if it is just a configuration issue on my end.

    Thx

  15. Penguinet does not look good in Windows DPI scaling. Everything looks blurry.

Microsoft's recommendation is to turn off the DPI scaling ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2900023 ) but in this case, the text is too tiny to be read because of the huge resolution (4k display).

4k displays becoming more and more common and ppls turn on DPI scaling, this is a must have feature.

  16. Using penguinet to ssh to a nexus 3048 running version 6.0.2.

penguinet succesfully connects to the switch, up to the point of actually showing me the CLI, then reports "the host does not appear to be running an SSH service on the requested port" and force-closes the session again.
Changing the switch or its config is impossible (its in a corporate data centre)

ssh to the same switch works fine with Putty

seems like some bug in penguinet intereacting with the particular behaviour of ssh on this switch hardware/firmware ? using version 2.70 of penguinet.

  18. I would send you a pic, but here I can not. Instead of my pofiles I see some chineese letter. I even think I attacked by virus. Very strange.
It is computer at work, so I had no reason to think about virus here. It looks like hacked from outside. I even suspect somebody used it from remote.

  19. Hello,

Would be nice to retouch the ui of penguinet for UHD screen resolution compatibility. Its completely useless with UHD.

  20. It would be useful storing a credential profile (username/password) and recall it into a connection profile. In this way for the device with ldap authentication the user should change the password in one place only
