Thanks for the suggestion. If possible, we’d prefer not to add “..”. The aim is to make an Explorer-like interface, and this isn’t something that Explorer does.
Would keyboard shortcuts work for you? We could make alt+left, alt+up and backspace all go to the directory above…
That would work for me, however I doubt many other users would intuitively find the feature.
I just had a poke around at various sftp/ftp software and showing .. is quite common. You could perhaps only show it in List and Details views? It would look funny in Large Icons view I'll give you that.
It doesn't seem important enough to have its own option box, what about a view option like "show . files" which I've seen in linux file explorers, all those ".preference" type files are designed to be usually hidden by default.
If a user can SSH in and see .. I don't really think it'll be harmful for them to see it when SCP'd in, but, yeh it's up to you to choose your target audience :)
As you say, there’s no ‘proper’ way to do this. If this is a very popular request, we may look at ‘improper’ ways!
Hi gt-fail I'm after the same feature, add your vote to:
to consolidate our forces ;)
We think this is a good idea. We are also looking at ways of providing new, faster ways of connecting to a profile.
All suggestions welcome!
If you hit Quick connect button then hit the drop down list on the right, that is sorted by most recently opened.
The current Quickconnect button has this suggestion functionality but it is only populated from Quickconnect history, it should also add all profiles hostnames into its auto-suggest list.
This will be in place for v2.60.
Perhaps current working directory could be made available to the command line options so I could do something like "cd $cwd" it'd just take me home if the $cwd wasn't populated which would be the case with a new window.
